Watched: Pearl 🍿
Saw that Pearl, X, and Maxxxine are all on Hulu so of course we’re doing a marathon tonight. Watching them in chronological order is new for me. Such a good horror film.
Been playing with the light leak filter on the Fujifilm X Half. I know there’s strong opinions on this little camera, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
Made the mistake of reading comments on Dr. Fauci’s contempt ruling.
User A: If the President can plead the 5th 400+ times without question, so can Dr. Fauci.
User B: Fauci is not the President. He’s a normal federal worker like me. He doesn’t get the ability to plead the 5th.
I’m sorry. WHAT?
I guess this is comfortable 🐕
Finally getting around to listening to the new Boards of Canada album, Inferno. It’s good, but I still think my favorite is The Campfire Headphase – largely due to nostalgia. I was a freshman in college, the possibilities seemed endless, I didn’t have to pay for health insurance. Life was good. 🎵
Finished watching Cape Fear Season 1 📺 last night. As someone who hasn’t seen the original film – it’s on the list – I thought the show was a really good thriller. It was an intense final and Javiar Bardem was fantastic throughout the show. ★★★★
Pre Urban Open crabs!
Proving yet again that billionaires are the biggest risk to democracy.
Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke feels that the poor shouldn’t vote and give the rich more votes.
The techno-billionaire class are full on Marvel/Bond villains. They know nothing but greed – be it financial or ever important market share – and will do anything to get it. They have demonstrated over and over again that they’ll say anything, do anything (quasi or either full on illegal), kiss any ring, and degrade themselves for even the mere chance they can enrich themselves. True leeches on society.
I’d compare them to a meth addict robbing, stealing, and prostituting for the next hit of dopamine, but that’s being too harsh on those suffering from addiction.
The worst part is they are just so fucking bad at being billionaires. They’re not the first, we’ve had the Rockefellers, Carnegies, Vanderbilts. Old money billionaires who understood how to at least fake a social contract with the rest of the populace. They built institutions that benefited others – libraries, colleges, parks – to stave off the guillotines. Meanwhile we have Musk, Lütke, Ellison, and Theil seemingly welcoming them with open necks given their comments and actions.
Reddit with an egregious dickover. No way to remove or dismiss it. I just wanted to read an interesting map. Reddit feels otherwise and now I will be less willing to click Reddit link. Seriously, fuck this shit.
Watched: The Long Walk 🍿
Been a busy week of movie watching. Watched The Long Walk a couple days ago and enjoyed it. I’m a fan of Stephen King’s stories, but haven’t read the book yet – adding it to the list – so I was a little confused as the world. Great allegory for war.
