This was a rough series for the Orioles. I miss the 2012-2016 crew. Those were fun seasons. ⚾️
Weekly Notes. 5/2/26 📝
📚 Dune. Already read it years ago but got a Libro.fm subscription and doing a listen through.
🎵 The Saddest Landscape - Alone With Heaven. The bands first release in 11 years and it rips.
📺 The Boys. Final season and so fair it’s just ok. Only 3 episodes left and curious how they’re going to wrap it up.
📺 This is a Gardening Show. This is amazing. A handful of short episodes about 16-18 minutes long. The kids are fun and Zach Galifianakis is funny and sincere. “The future is agrarian.”
🎮 The Messenger. Obsessed.
❤️ Saturday morning walk to the market with Jacy and Nora and seeing some of the Kinetic Art Sculpture race.
Cool idea to display dried flower in an up-cycled window pane.
Went to the Baltimore Flower Mart Friday night. It’s always been one of my favorite examples of community and why I love Baltimore. Started in 1911 and going strong for 115 years. Didn’t get any plants, but of course I got a peppermint stick. 🌻
Picked up The Messenger 🎮 during a Nintendo store sale for $4 and holy shit is that the best $4 I’ve spent in a long time. It’s such a fun game. I can spend 15 minutes doing a single level or playing for a few hours straight. It’s fast, challenging, and satisfying. I’m hooked.
It’s been one of those weeks.
BP profits more than double, beating expectations as Iran war boosts oil prices
The first key point kills me:
BP on Tuesday reported stronger-than-expected first-quarter earnings, citing “exceptional” oil trading contributions.
“Exceptional” indeed. We’ve already had the Great Recession. I’m calling this period, starting from maybe 2023 to now, ”The Great Squeeze”. The amount of forces squeezing the poor and middle classes and transferring wealth upwards are what is truly “exceptional”.
The black cats of Baltimore City or the duality of cats.
